Title: CIY Move
Category: Students
Description:

CIY MOVE is a 7-day high school event at Hope College in Holland, MI designed to amplify the call of Christ on students' lives to become Kingdom workers. We'll meet at SouthBrook on Sunday, June 21, caravan to Hope College, and stay in dorm rooms, guys and girls separate. Cost for trip and conference is $269 for first 5 students; $299 from Mar. 1-31; $319 from Apr. 1-30; and $339 from May 1-31. Registration deadline is May 31 or 60 participants. For more information, contact Tyler Ash.

This year’s theme is You Are Here. In high school. At work. On a team. In a family. For 4 years. For 8 hours. All season. Your whole life. Your geography is limited. Love it or hate it, you can only be in one place at a time. But you can do more than just survive. You can embrace your place. God placed you here. And He's here, too. In the book of Daniel, a group of teenagers were exiled to a foreign land, left to deal with the reality of life in a diverse world. In the shadow of Babylon, they learned it is possible to speak the language of a culture yet still worship God. It's possible to long for home but still speak truth with love and grace. The Kingdom needs you to bless the country–not the other way around. This was Daniel's story. And yours too! MOVE invites you to look at your own life through the life of Daniel. To join the beautiful resistance. To stop hating culture and start creating culture. To live life under the rule of the King. To pray a new prayer. You are here.

Title: Connect Event: SBkids & epic
Category: Kids, Students
Description:

Did you know? On average we have about 900 in SBkids and 300 in epic, and within those counts, our volunteer needs exceed 150! Those are some pretty big numbers. And this happens every weekend at SouthBrook, which is why we want to give you an opportunity to get connected with either (or both!) of these impactful ministries. On the weekends of  May 16-17 and May 23-24, stop by the Atrium displays and find out more about SBkids and epic—meet the leaders, ask any questions, and find out how to volunteer. Especially this summer, we need volunteers to step in so we can give our regular volunteers somewhat of a break from leading each and every weekend. (Thank you in advance!)

The local church is the hope of the world...but our kids and students are the hope of the local church! Stop over and see how you can PLAY a part in SBkids and epic, this summer and even beyond that!

Title: Double Dog Dare-A-Thon
Category: Students
Description:

Asking someone to come to church can feel like asking for a date to the prom. Rejection is likely, and if we think he or she wouldn’t accept, we would tend not to ask. God uses people in our lives to bring us closer to Him, and similarly, we are called to do the same for our unchurched friends. From April 11-26, epic students (5th-12th grades) will be in a "Saved You A Seat" series to talk about how uniquely gifted we are to serve as Christ’s hands and feet, and how important it is to bring our friends to experience Him.

As part of this series, we're asking students to pick one friend to spend the night with them on Saturday, April 25, perform a list of "dares" that we will send out, and then attend church with them on Sunday, April 26. We call it Double Dog Dare-A-Thon and it will be a Sunday unlike any other!

Description:

A study on the Book of James that equips men to think clearly and choose wisely when dealing with temptation. As part of the "God's Man Series" by Kenny Luck, it helps confront this pervasive problem in God's wisdom and strength, to begin to live an undivided life. Some men have learned the secret of being undivided between what they believe and how they actually think and live. They possess integrity. They have gained new perspectives on the trials and temptations they face, new tools to help them overcome automatic responses to challenging situations, and new actions that produce humility and flexibility in God's strength.

Title: Passage Banquet
Category: Students
Description:

Graduation is approaching faster than you would like. Your child is growing up too quickly. College and adulthood are right around the corner. It’s all so overwhelming, to say the least.

This year, we are longing to come alongside you, the parents or guardians, to walk students into adulthood with a Passage Banquet for graduating seniors and their parents. Join us for a formal evening on Sunday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. with a fancy meal, laughter, shared memories, and a moment for parents and students. This year, Charlie will be our keynote speaker.

During the evening, parents have the opportunity to read a blessing over their child and challenge them in their faith as they take on the next stage of their journey. Parents are invited to play an important role in making the night impactful by writing a blessing, so students understand that they have what it takes for the journey ahead as they listen to words of blessing from their parents. As a staff, we will also honor each senior with a small gift.

We ask that you prayerfully consider being a part of this memorable evening as we take time to honor, encourage and pray for our graduating seniors.

Parents: To prepare for The Passage, download the informational sheet.

Title: PLAY Study (1st in series)
Category: General
Taught By: DVD-Driven
Description:

At SouthBrook, we strive to put our lives into PLAY! We want God to use us, and use our Personalities, Learnings, Abilities and Yearnings to go into the world and make it as God intended. Your Personality is the way God put you into PLAY. It is the combination of characteristics that make you…YOU! Learnings are the accumulated data and wisdom from pain experiences that grow, mature, and refine us. Learnings lead to shaping, purpose, and God’s glory in the world. Abilities, combined with the Spirit of God in us, make something special of God come out of us. It's the ways God’s Spirit works through us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Our Yearnings are bringing God into the world when our gifts intersect with our world’s real needs. When God is in you and your soul is alive, there will be places in your soul that burn with His desire to set this world right.

Upon completion of this study, you might also consider the PLAYer Profiles Study, the second study in the PLAY series.

To participate in the PLAY Study, pick up a copy from the Bookstore or SouthBrook Central.

Title: PLAYer Profiles Study (2nd in series)
Category: General
Taught By: DVD-Driven
Description:

As a follow up to the PLAY Study, we look at the biblical characters that have discovered their shape—who embody and exemplify how God puts people into PLAY and illustrate the spiritual abilities in Scripture. In these biblical profiles, we discover ourselves and learn about the heroic players in the history of our faith. Through this study, we know ourselves better and see how God can use our lives for His purposes. We discover divinely enabled Abilities that we might not know we have since surrendering our lives to Christ or that may be hidden in us because of not yet surrendering.

As part of this study, we take an Assessment to determine our individual Spiritual Abilities—gifts that, combined with the Spirit of God in us, make something special of Him come out of us.

To participate in the PLAYer Profiles Study, pick up a copy from the Bookstore or SouthBrook Central.

Title: Women's Bible Study: Breathe
Category: Women
Description:

One of the greatest challenges among women is taking time to cease from the busyness and just breathe. We constantly strive to complete limitless to-do lists that hinder from experiencing all that God has for us. We miss moments because we rush ahead to the next thing. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christ-likeness and miss out on some of God's greatest gifts. It is time for us to breathe and build margin into our lives for God.

In the Old Testament, God instituted principles that transformed the Israelites' mindset. He didn't just want them legally free; He wanted them to walk in the freedom and enjoy it. So God gave them many gifts, including boundaries, to enjoy. Sabbath was intended as a gift, and it still is today. If weary, worn out, or exhausted, the concept of Sabbath will change your life in this Priscilla Shirer study. Registration closes on Apr. 16.
