Title: Big Splash Baptism Weekend
Category: Baptism
Description:

Baptism is an important outward sign of belief in Jesus and shows a willingness to surrender to God's power in our lives. Our "Big Splash" Weekend on Aug. 27-28 (during all services) is a time to celebrate those who have made the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Since epic will not meet, students should attend services in the Main Theater.

This weekend, you won't be asked to write a testimony or say anything. All are welcome, adults and students—first timers, re-baptisms, or those who were sprinkled and want to be obedient. With multiple tubs outside (weather permitting), all you'll do is walk on up and get baptized under the summer sun! If it rains, the baptisms will take place in the Main Theater.

To learn more before taking that step, our Baptism Orientation is an excellent resource for further explanation as to why we celebrate baptism the way we do. It's optional and not required for baptism, but available if you have questions. Go to Events to view our upcoming classes.

It’s a big decision. But one you’ll never regret. Think about it. And when you’re ready, we are here to take that step with you. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Brown.

Title: CIY Believe
Category: Students
Description:
CIY Believe is a high-energy weekend for middle school students packed with powerful worship, intense drama and teaching. We not only worship together, but also engage in life-challenging discussions as students discover ways in which God is calling them to be Kingdom workers.

Students have a desperate desire to know what’s real. Finding answers in today’s world is easy–from cell phones to internet to social media. Students have the ability to look up any question in a matter of seconds. Finding the truth is more difficult. And, Believe challenges students to switch on the light and understand that truth matters. There’s more to life than just the facts that they can find so easily. There’s a foundational truth of God that can shape the rest of their lives. Satan’s two tactics are to convince that the light is dark, or the dark is light. But God has one tactic: Be the light. By exploring the life of Jesus, students will find the truth and switch on the light.

The conference is at the BB&T Arena in Cincinnati. Buses depart from SouthBrook on Friday, Feb. 19 at 4:30 p.m. and return on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $75 through Feb. 5 and then $90 from Feb. 6-19. Finalized parent information letter will be sent by Feb. 15 to the email used at regression time. For questions, contact Shane Hively.

Title: CIY Mix
Category: Students
Description:
MIX is a 4-day event for 6th-8th graders that engages students through fun and interactive activities along with biblical teaching and small groups.

MIX understands middle school students need their own experience as it is a unique time in their lives–growing and learning different than any other age group. They’re still young enough to play, but old enough to start understanding core ideals that will stay with them the rest of their lives. It’s their chance to be exactly who they are: to play, listen and learn as themselves. Students will understand their identity in God’s Kingdom, and be challenged to embrace the work He has prepared for them.

The conference is at Cedarville University. Buses depart from SouthBrook (front of building facing Washington Church) on Sunday, June 26 at 12 p.m. and return on Thursday, June 30 at 12 p.m. Cost is $325 through March 31; $345 from Apr. 1-26; and $365 from Apr. 27-June 11. For questions, contact Shane Hively.

Title: InSync Marriage Sessions
Category: Couples | Marriage
Taught By: Randy Creamer

Randy loves his family and is proud to see it grow. He and Sue Ann, wife of 36 years, enjoy their 3 sons, two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters. Besides the gifts of faith and mercy giving, and although not officially recognized as one of the spiritual gifts, Randy believes he also has the gift of play." Randy is a certified instructor for Equipping Ministries, Inc. in the areas of communication skills, conflict resolution and family systems. Randy has also received a certification in professional life and marriage coaching from Light University and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Description:

InSync is a story of when you first get married. Your steps are often out of sync. One of you may be independent; while the other is desiring more out of you as a spouse. You have your own ideas of parenting, but your spouse sees it differently. Finances also become an issue because you don't seem to manage money in the same way. And when such differences arise, a marriage gets out of sync.

Marriage is a journey of figuring out a pace that works well for both husband and wife. One of you may need to slow down, while the other quickens the pace so that you can walk in sync with each other. Randy and Sue Ann Creamer will share their journey as a couple using humor, stories, and real-life examples by leading discussions about intimacy, parenting, finances, conflict and more.

Monthly, we'll will take a different topic and explore how to improve so couples can find a way to walk in sync. Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and then the third Tuesday of each month from October to April.

Charlie McMahan has been the Lead Pastor of SouthBrook since 1992. Charlie loves his wife Sherry and his kids, Jordan and Austin. He also really likes sharks, sports and reading about sharks and sports.

Laura Buffington serves as a Teaching Pastor and has been a part of SouthBrook for since 2005. Title: Passage Banquet
Category: Students
Description:

Graduation is approaching faster than you would like. Your child is growing up too quickly. College and adulthood are right around the corner. It’s all so overwhelming, to say the least.

This year, we are longing to come alongside you, the parents or guardians, to walk students into adulthood with a Passage Banquet for graduating seniors and their parents. Join us for a formal evening on Sunday, May 22 from 6-8 p.m. with a fancy meal, laughter, shared memories, and a moment for parents and students. This year, Charlie will be our keynote speaker.

During the evening, parents have the opportunity to read a blessing over their child and challenge them in their faith as they take on the next stage of their journey. Parents are invited to play an important role in making the night impactful by writing a blessing, so students understand that they have what it takes for the journey ahead as they listen to words of blessing from their parents. As a staff, we will also honor each senior with a small gift.

We ask that you prayerfully consider being a part of this memorable evening as we take time to honor, encourage and pray for our graduating seniors.

Title: PLAY Study (1st in series)
Category: General
Taught By: DVD-Driven
Description:

We want God to use our Personality, Learnings, Abilities and Yearnings to go into the world and make it as He intended. Personality is a combination of characteristics that make you...YOU! Learnings are the accumulated data and wisdom from pain experiences that grow, mature and refine us and lead to shaping, purpose and God’s glory in the world. Abilities, combined with the Spirit in us, make something special come out of us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Yearnings are bringing God into the world when our gifts intersect with the world’s real needs. When God is in you, there will be places in your soul that burn with His desire to set this world right.

Title: Player Profiles Study (2nd in series)
Category: General
Taught By: DVD-Driven
Description:

As a follow up to the PLAY Study, we look at biblical characters that have discovered their shape—who embody and exemplify how God puts people into PLAY to illustrate the spiritual abilities in Scripture and teach us about the heroic players in the history of our faith.

Through this study, we come to know ourselves better and see how God can use our lives for His bigger purposes. In an Assessment, we determine Spiritual Abilities—gifts that, combined with the Spirit in us, make something special of Him come out of us. We discover these divinely enabled Abilities that we may not know we have since surrendering our lives to Christ or that may be hidden in us because of not yet surrendering.
