Title: Baptism Orientation
Category: Baptism
Taught By: Roz Mitakides

Roz and her husband, Drew, have been at SouthBrook since 1996 and Roz served on SouthBrook's Vision Team for several years. She has a strong career background in training, counseling and Human Resources Management, but her true passion is sharing the Word of God in a way that is easily understood. She has years of inductive Bible study and has learned first hand the power and healing available in God's Word. Her greatest joy is sharing the Word with others.

Description:

Baptism is an important outward sign of belief in Jesus Christ and shows a willingness to surrender to God's power in our lives. If you're ready to take that next step in your spiritual journey, come to our Baptism Orientation to learn why we celebrate baptism and what it means to be a Christ-follower. Although not required for baptism, this class is an excellent resource if you have questions. Contact Lu Musselman to schedule a baptism at any time.

Title: Baptism Orientation
Category: Baptism
Taught By: Pete Creamer

"Pete" Creamer, husband to Marla, is the father of three children and a proud grandpa. Pete received an undergraduate degree at Kentucky Christian University as well as a double Masters in Christian Leadership and Christian Ministry. For 29 years, he served as Teaching Pastor for The First Church of Christ in Xenia. He and Marla have attended SouthBrook since 2008, and Pete is probably most recognizable as one of the bass guitar players in our Worship Arts Ministry. But, you'll also find him teaching our Baptism Orientations every now and again. Pete is perhaps best known as "Randy Creamer's brother."

Title: Big Splash Baptism Weekend
Category: Baptism
Description:

Baptism is an important outward sign of belief in Jesus and shows a willingness to surrender to God's power in our lives. During Aug. 26-27 services, we'll celebrate those who make the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior with a Big Splash Weekend. All are welcome, adults and students—first timers, re-baptisms, or those sprinkled and want to be obedient. No testimony, no talking...just one baptism after another! Since epic will not meet, students should attend services in the Main Theater.

To learn more, our Baptism Orientation is an excellent resource for further explanation as to why we celebrate baptism the way we do. It's optional, but available if you have questions. Go to Events for upcoming classes.

It’s a big decision. But one you won't regret. Think about it. And when ready, we're here to take that step with you. If you know in advance, go ahead and register now. If not yet sure, but you decide "in the moment," we'll be ready with a change of clothes! Contact Lu Musselman with any questions or to schedule a baptism at another time.

As part of our DayOne Campaign, we are making space for God to move. And, a big part of our building expansion is creating a chapel where we can celebrate the lives of those just born through child dedications, the lives of those joining together through marriage, and the lives of those who have crossed over to eternity. We will also be expanding space in our children and student areas, and making new space for Bogg and Cancer Hope.

If you would like a sneak peek at the progress in the chapel area, please join us for a Chapel Tour after all services on the weekend of Aug. 5-6. Please pick up your kids first, then follow the signs in the Atrium. SouthBrook staff will be available to answer questions.

Title: CIY Mix
Category: Students
Description:
MIX is an event for 6th-8th graders at Cedarville University which engages students through tactile, interactive and fun activities coupled with Biblical teaching and small group interaction.

MIX understands middle school students need their own experience. At a unique time in their lives, students are growing and learning different than any other age group. Still young enough to need to play, but old enough to start understanding some core ideals that will stay with them the rest of their lives. For this reason, MIX isn’t designed for high school students or preteens. It’s specifically designed for middle school students–for it’s their chance to be exactly who they are: to play, listen and learn as themselves.

It’s also created for adult leaders to build relationships with students that will last long after the MIX experience. At MIX, students will come to understand their identity in God’s Kingdom, and be challenged to embrace the Kingdom work He has prepared for them.

Arrive at SouthBrook on June 25 at 10:30 a.m. for check in and bus departure from the new parking lot by Dayton Christian. Return on June 29 at 12 p.m. Cost is $325 through March 31; $350 from Apr. 1-25; $375 from Apr. 26-May 31; and $400 from June 1-10.

Title: fiveonfive Challenge: Jesus Hits The Beach
Category: General
Description:

Not only is it summer vacation time, it’s also time for some fiveonfive and leaning into the principles that create the solid life you were meant to live—the one that stands when the storm strikes. With our fiveonfive challenges, we have a summer version to take with you anytime, anywhere where you can apply the principles of Jesus’ famous parable of the house built on solid rock versus a sandy beach. A beach is a great place to vacation but it would be a difficult place to build a house that lasts. And, one way to understand the power of the Five S's is that they are the way we build our lives on a solid foundation.

Download the fiveonfive app from Google Play or Apple App Stores. If you already downloaded, open the app and select the Beach challenge. Or, take the challenge online. Whether at the beach, on the lake, or by the pool, grab your beach towel and let’s hit the beach with Jesus as He teaches us how to build the life that lasts forever! (Don't forget the sunscreen!)

Taught By: DVD-Driven
Description:

We want God to use our Personality, Learnings, Abilities and Yearnings to go into the world and make it as He intended. Personality is a combination of characteristics that make us! Learnings are accumulated data and wisdom from pain experiences that grow, mature and refine us. Abilities, combined with the Spirit in us, make something special come out of us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Yearnings are bringing God into the world as our gifts intersect with the world’s real needs. When God is in us, there will be places in our soul that burn with His desire to set the world right. Upon completion, we recommend the Player Profiles Study.

As a PLAY Study follow up, we look at biblical characters that have discovered their shape—who embody and exemplify how God puts people into PLAY to illustrate the spiritual abilities in Scripture and teach about the heroic players in the history of our faith.

In this study, we come to know ourselves better and see how God can use our lives for His bigger purposes. In an Assessment, we determine Spiritual Abilities—gifts that, combined with the Spirit in us, make something special of Him come out of us. We discover these divinely enabled Abilities that we may not know we have since surrendering our lives to Christ or that may be hidden because of not yet surrendering.

Title: Provoke
Category: General
Description:

Leadership is a series of events or teachings we have either learned along the way or if humble enough, have learned from someone else. By listening to others who humbly share their experiences, we would be amazed at how quickly each of us would pick up our own problems. Yet often, leaders are not vulnerable enough to let others see their weaknesses. Sharing those fears quite simply reminds us that we are not alone and together, we can accomplish so much more.

Some of us are too comfortable. Life is good. No big problems.
Could we be Provoked to do more?

Some are tired, worn out, and Provoked by life’s circumstances.
Could we be comforted and shown that we are not alone?

Through Provoke, a NEW! leadership session, we'll look closely at these questions. Although geared toward business people, it's open to anyone as we meet monthly on the first Tuesday from 7-8 a.m. in the Small Theater. No cost or registration required.

Provoke will not meet in July or August, but will start back up in Sept.
