The Present

Life is full of highs and lows. It's very natural for your level of enthusiasm to vacillate from time to time. There are some emotions that will never be duplicated. They are one-time experiences that are to be appreciated as temporary, but they are not the standard by which your spirituality is measured.

This principle is true in every area, every relationship. Excitement comes and goes and success is dependent upon duty in the absence of feeling, when the angels have gone. But you are expected to be faithful and obedient even when you are not excited. You are expected to maintain a level of intensity about your faith that demonstrates to others what your priorities in life are.
