Jake Larson led us from a movie about trains and aliens into a conversation about suffering and the eternal will of God. Because stories are never just stories. Alien movies are never just about aliens. They are about fear and pain and threats from faraway places. Stories can force us to confront truth and emotion in a way that bullet points just can’t do. Perhaps that’s why God provided us with truth in the form of a richly layered story instead of a list of bullet points. From Genesis to Revelation, God is telling a story. And as Jake said, we find ourselves in the middle of the story. Our lives fall between the “train wreck” of Eden and the final resolution.
