Christmas Love

My boys and I moved here in August of 2010. It was a decision made from sheer exhaustion. I have been a single mom for the past five years. The education system in West Virginia had been taken over by the state and the resources we needed were just not available. I began to pay tuition for a charter school and again, my oldest son's educational needs were not being met. With having to subsidize more and more for his learning, I found myself feeling completely defeated.
One day I heard “Leave it all, and go home. You need not fight any more.”
I literally packed a few duffle bags, left my work, locked my house, and headed to stay with my mom. I registered the boys in the Centerville School District, and it took me 8 months to find a decent job in this area.
Today, both boys are thriving. They are healthy and well-adjusted. It was now time for me to find community for myself. My friends, Marilena and David Thompson, invited me to SouthBrook one Sunday. I was amazed.
From that day, I knew I had found the community where we could begin to plant our roots. My boys love SBkids, and I have enrolled in classes and absolutely love the messages delivered each week.
Tears immediately streamed from my eyes when Teresa presented us with the gift cards as a SouthBrook Sponsored Family. It was like I heard God say “You did it. You've come home. You are right where you need to be”.
It is difficult to find the words to express my gratitude for the support that SouthBrook has extended to Jax, Zachary and myself. Thank you for the support, thank you for the community, thank you for the love.
