Charlie led us through a difficult parable this weekend. The Parable of the Talents is found in Matthew 25.14.30. But more importantly, according to Matthew’s account, Jesus tells this story towards the end of his public ministry, towards the end of his public life. Shortly after telling this story, Jesus knows he will be arrested, scorned,...

I imagine that Jesus had to set a lot of boundaries. He probably had to make a lot of decisions about when to help, when to walk away, when to speak. Imagine walking around knowing you can take away people’s pain, seeing all the deepest, darkest truths of their heart, holding the power to change people’s lives with a touch.
Jesus went to...

Have you ever made an “island” list? You know the kind-- the 5 records/books/movies/friends/foods/celebrities you would take with you if you ever found yourself on a deserted island? If you’ve never tried it, you should. Start a conversation at work, over lunch, around the dinner table. Making these lists can be an incredibly frustrating...

This is a P.S. about letters. I know—it’s blowing your mind.
Paul, the missionary/church planter/tent maker, wrote almost all of his letters the same way. The letters start just like you would expect, all the business stuff up front: his name and title, where he is and where the letter is going. Then he gets to the part the people are...

We hope that this weekend’s message from Craig Gross started some conversations. Between husbands and wives. Between people who are dating. Between single friends talking about the kind of marriage they might want to have someday. We hope it got you talking.
We hope this weekend gave you a chance to think about what it means to love your...

Our mission as a church is to help people who struggle with faith live like Jesus Christ forever. Jake Larson’s message this week gave us a chance to think about how we’re all doing at the “live like Jesus” part.
Our world desperately needs us to show them what Jesus was really about. To say with our lives that “Jesus is Lord.” That Jesus...

I don’t know if it felt controversial to you but the story of Naaman, the story that Hank Fortener retold this weekend, found in 2 Kings 5.1-19, once caused Jesus a whole lot of trouble.
In Luke 4.16-30, we find a story about the first time that Jesus spoke in a synagogue in his hometown. It’s a good story and you might want to read it. Jesus...

When you and God talk, what do you talk about? Is it a routine conversation like the kind you have when you pass a co-worker in the hallway? Is it a one-sided conversation where you say everything you need to say and then walk away? Or is it an intimate conversation like the kind you might have over coffee with someone who knows what you’re...

Joe Boyd, from the Vineyard Church in Cincinnati told us an amazing story this weekend. If you missed it, all you missed was pretty much the whole story of God. From the first breath to the ending that is to come, we can see how much God desperately wants to be the Father and the King of the world He lovingly created and sustains. God has...

We know a lot of you may have taken the chance this holiday weekend to get out of town and do some summer adventuring. Here’s a recap of what we talked about this weekend and some ways you might connect to God this week:
This weekend we looked at one of the wilder stories in Scripture. In Mark 9.2-8, Jesus takes three of his followers on a...
